Reflections Contest

Our School did the relections contest. The theme was "I Can Make A Difference By..." I did the literature category and wrote a book. Everyone who participated in the whole contest got a ribbon (like Taylor) but only a few in each category got a trophy. It means that I get to go on the the next round. My book was about being nice to a new girl who moved to our school and didn't have any friends.

Very Cool, Lauren. Congratulations.

Your grandma, Annie and I were new girls in school a lot. I went to 13 different schools before I graduated from high school and four colleges after that. I was lucky that we stayed in one place from when I was in eighth grade till I graduated.
But I always remember how hard it was on that first day in a new school, especially at lunch time if no one asked me to sit with them at lunch. So I always invited a new girl to sit with my friends and me at lunch.
Some of them got to be my really good friends. And when I went to my 25 year high school reunion one lady I hadn't seen for 25 years came up and said "Thank you for asking me to eat with you that first day, I've never forgotten that." It really made me feel good.

So your book has told a really important story with a meaningful lesson. Please bring your book to Sunriver so we can see it.

Love, Leslie (We Ls have to stick together)

What a great job Lauren!!! I could never write very well (or spell either)... I guess that's why I ended up being a scientist:-)
